Butter Pound Cake

Portion: 3pcs of 20 x 10 cm / 8 x 4 inch Loaf


  • 450g butter
  • 600g caster sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 500g plain flour
  • 150ml milk


1 Preheat oven to 180°C ( 356°F ) for 30 minutes. Grease and line three 20 x 10 cm / 8 x 4 inch loaf tins with baking parchment.
2 In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time. Beat in the flour alternately with the milk, mixing just until incorporated.
3 Pour batter evenly into prepared loaf pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 70 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre of the cakes comes out clean. After removing them from the oven, immediately loosen cake edges with a knife. Allow to cool in tins for 10 minutes, then remove from the tins. Strip off the baking parchment and cool completely on wire racks.

Healthy Tip

This is an old fashioned pound cake which contains no salt or flavourings. You can, of course, add vanilla or almond extract.

How to make your beloved cake slim down?
Swap in egg whites for some of the whole eggs to help scale back on calories and cholesterol. Also, you can add 1/4 less amount of sugar. Enjoy for afternoon tea!
