Nutella Chocolate Chip Cookies

Portion: 12 – 15 cookies
Preparation time: About 30 minutes to prepare, plus 10 minutes to bake


  • 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 3/4 cup of packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg + 1 egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup of nutella, divided
  • 2 + 1/3 cups of all-purpose/plain flour
  • 1 + 1/4 teaspoons of baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon of cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 + 1/4 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips


1 Preheat oven to 350ºF/160ºC. Line two baking trays with baking paper or silicone mats, set aside.
2 In a large bowl, beat the butter for 1 minute until completely smooth and creamy. Add the brown sugar and granulated sugar and beat until fluffy and light in color. Beat in egg, egg yolk, and vanilla until just combined. Beat in 1/4 cup of Nutella until combined.
3 Whisk the flour, cornstarch, baking soda and salt together in a large bowl. Slowly mix into the wet ingredients until combined. Add 1 cup of the chocolate chips (leave ¼ cup) and beat for 5-10 seconds. Add the remaining Nutella and beat for 5-10 seconds.
4 Scoop about 1 Tablespoon of dough and roll into balls. Place onto prepared baking tray about ½ inch (1 + 1/4 cm) apart. Bake the cookies for 10 minutes, until slightly golden brown around the edges.
5 Allow to cool for 5 minutes on the cookie sheet. Then sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of chocolate chips onto the tops of the slightly warm cookies.
6 Transfer cookies to a cooling rack to cool completely
